Being involved in network marketing definitely has its ups and downs.
I am thoroughly convinced that in order to be successful it is 80% in your head and 20% for the actual action to build your business.
My wife recently told me that she LOVES what network marketing has done for me. For one, I flipped a “one-eighty” from being a very negative person to a very positive person and working harder on myself than I do on my job or business.
That being said, the lesson in network marketing that I learned is the importance of building a strong foundation.
We are creators. Nothing comes to us, everything comes through us…from us. Everything in this world that happens to us comes from us and not what other people do or say.
Anything that you have in your life is exactly what you design. The clothes wearing, the home you’re living in, the car your driving, the neighbors you got, the friends you got, and even the distributors you got! So you shouldn’t blame others for the people you attracted.
In my primary online business, I have recently come to the knowledge and realization of the importance of building a strong front-line of leaders (i.e. my personal referrals).
A portion of the compensation plan is built around your leadership. For example, if I refer “Bob” and he then refers Bill. That unlocks what’s called a Silver Share Bonus where I get paid on EVERYONE who comes into the company after me regardless of who sponsored them. I can get up to five Silver Shares (5 personal referrals who each have one).
If Bob also refers Dan and both Bill and Dan refer another, that starts to open the Platinum Share Bonus, which can be VERY lucrative.
Let’s say four months down the road Bob, my personal referral, decides to jump ship. I immediately lose any bonuses that were build under him. I come tumbling down, which mentally is difficult NOT to let it affect you.
Do I quit as well or do I persist until I succeed?!
I have already decided to persist until I succeed! So having a strong front line of personal referrals who are committed and dedicated to do whatever it takes to succeed is key!
My foundation is 50/50 currently. Going forward I am going to be more selective on who I bring to the table. Sometimes we can get SO EXCITED that someone even wants to partner up with us that we don’t care who it is and just sign ’em up as soon as possible.
Here are a few questions I’ll be asking people interested in joining my team:
- Are you willing to dedicate at least 30-60 minutes a day for the next 24 months in building your business?
- Are you able to afford the monthly product purchase of $60? (The only monetary cost of doing this business.)
- Are you willing to learn and develop new skills and put them to practice?
- Are you willing to follow the direction that I give you and the direction of our leaders?
- My commitment to you, as you do these things I will match you 100% and help you to be successful.
I think by asking these questions and obtaining their commitment will help solidify in yours and their mind that this is not to be taken lightly, you are serious about being successful and building a strong team, and are committed yourself of their success.

Even though you may feel like everything is crumbling beneath you, the true test is if you get back up, dust yourself off, and persist until you succeed! There will be downs, but the ups will come as long as you maintain the proper mindset and belief it will, success will knock at your door.
