Is free will our choice, chance, or just part of the plan?
I watched a couple of movies over the weekend, The Matrix Revolutions and The Adjustment Bureau. In both movies, one of the main underlying themes is our own power to choose…free will. Watch these two clips of each movie:
When you think about it, it is really unnerving to think that someone or something else making decisions for us or nudging us down a path that someone else wrote. If that were true, why even try if our choices are predetermined?
The Choice is Up to You
Every day is full of choices. It begins when we wake up. Do I get out of bed or hit the snooze button? Should I take a shower first and then eat later…or go to the gym? What shirt am I going to wear today? Do I order something different at Carl’s Jr. or try something new? Etc. etc. etc.

A lot of our little choices have little impact that determine the events of the day. Then there are choices will absolutely determine the events of the day. For example, on the commute to work someone cuts you off and in your anger you increase your speed, tailgate the little %$#%, and end up getting in a car accident. Whereas if you didn’t, that wreck wouldn’t have happened.
Good thing we have the power to choose for ourselves!
Choice and Attitude
I’ll end today’s post with this…Charles Swindoll said it best:
The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.
Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude… I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.
And so it is with you… we are in charge of our attitudes.
One choice will choice will show you a way to
more money than you ever dreamed of from home.
The other choice will continue on your merry
way content with the life you’ve already chosen to live.
