With that said, fear can either drive us to be rich or poor…so obviously we need to overcome fear.
“The fear of losing money is real. Everyone has it. Even the rich. But it’s not having fear that is the problem. It’s how you handle fear. It’s how you handle losing. It’s how you handle failure that makes the difference in one’s life.”
We learn from Napoleon Hill that if you want riches, you must refuse to accept any circumstances that leads toward poverty. He specifies that the word “riches” is used in its broadest sense, meaning financial, spiritual, mental and material estates.
Most important, fear of poverty is a state of mind, nothing else! To overcome the fear of poverty requires a courageous self-analysis in your character. Napoleon Hill lists the symptoms of the fear of poverty:
The main culprit is procrastination. That’s my biggest weakness and something I am continually working on. It helps that I only focus on one thing at a time instead of trying to accomplish many things.
“For most people, the reason they don’t win financially is because the pain of losing money is far greater than the joy of being rich.” -Robert Kiyosaki
I have a two and four year old and both of them almost every day they say they’re scared…usually it’s when they’re going to bed. I sat down with Aleah, my 4 year old daughter and said, “Aleah, fear is only a state of mind. You’re only scared because you think you are. If you think that you’re not scared and think of something happy and you won’t be scared.”
It didn’t really phase her, but I’ll continue to work on it and try to instill in her mind the power of positive thinking and she has control over her mind…something we all need to develop more. As we do, we will overcome fear!
