…a 4 1/2 year old girl and an almost 3 year old boy.
Like small children, they don’t always do what they’re supposed to and get in trouble.
When they are in trouble and punishment is hanging over their heads, they plead: “I will be good!”
…and event that takes place in the future.
I try to impress upon their little minds that they need to be good NOW, not at some future point in the future. I will be good NOW!
My children are still very young and have a lot to learn, and all I can do is hope that the things I teach them will stick somewhere in the subconscious and have some effect later in their lives.
My profession is sales. With most sales jobs there are quotas and targets that need to be reached each month. My co-worker and I were talking about our performance for the month and he said something to me that inspired this post…
…he said, “Next month I’m going to try that whole positive attitude thing.”
It actually made me laugh out loud because I immediately thought of the example I just laid out about my kids. With what I’ve learned about developing a positive mental attitude it’s not something that you can plan for and when you decide to do something…start immediately.
Take massive action now!
One of my personal manifestos I repeat aloud to myself every day is as follows:
“I make decisions fast and swiftly move forward. I finish what I start. I will persist until I succeed!”
Decide now to take action instead of saying, “I will be good” and do what needs to be done to MAKE IT HAPPEN!
