My Struggle Meets Success

When the “World Wide Web” first came about and was relatively new to everyone, I knew it was something special. I knew that it was going to be a game changer and a great way for businesses to increase their sales and for regular people another avenue of making money and finding success.

That was 12-years ago for me. There’s a lot I didn’t know back then, but I knew that I wanted to “make money online” but didn’t know how to do it. My entrepreneurial dream was to work full-time from home, in a quiet office, working on my computer and making a good living.

For years I’ve just struggled and struggled trying to find the perfect solution, that I liked and believed in, to make my dream a reality. But it just didn’t happen.

Don Lapre
Don Lapre’s infamous picture that made him a fortune.
My first real experience was buying Don Lapre’s program. You may remember him from late night infomercials where from a “tiny one-bedroom apartment” he made a fortune from placing tiny classified ads in newspapers from all across the county. I still have that program and am looking at the box it’s stored in. I struggled with this program and put my whole heart into it, but didn’t see any results.

My second real experience was with eBay. To all of my nieces and nephews I’m known as “Uncle eBay” because I used to do a lot of selling on eBay. I actually had some success with this and made some money. It started by selling stuff I had, but didn’t use, and I couldn’t believe how much money people were willing to pay for it! Once I ran out of stuff to sell, I started buying stuff at thrift and second-hand stores, and was again amazed that I could buy a product that cost 1-$2 and could sell it on eBay for $25 or more!

eBay took up a lot of time. Especially with packing and shipping and quickly got burned out. I wanted to find a product I could sell, that I didn’t have to personally ship where I could just email it and make money. I looked into drop shipping, but wanted to find even something easier like selling information. I did eBay for a couple of years, but when they bought PayPal and I was paying fees up the yin yang I closed up shop. It wasn’t profitable for me anymore. Occasionally I still sell an item here and there, but nothing like I used to. In fact, I’m planning on selling my Droid HTC Rezound this weekend as I just purchased an iPhone 4S.

I kind of gave up on making money online for awhile, years in fact, but still kept on the lookout for the perfect business or idea that I could do. I decided to go back to school and finish up my Bachelors in Business Management. You know, go to school and get a degree. Find a good job with benefits and security and then retire after 40 years. Well, that didn’t work out as planned either. I found that going to college just wasn’t for me. I did find a good job, making decent money and got married.

While my wife was pregnant with out first child, I go to work on a Monday morning and was soon called into a meeting with my manager. I entered the conference room with many other people in the room and was laid off after five dedicated years. They seriously treated me like a leper and escorted me out of the building. I couldn’t even gather my personal things to take home. I had to schedule a separate time with my now ex-manager to get them later.

This experience left such a bad taste of corporate America in my mouth that I was determined to never let that happen to me again. I was in charge of my own future and success, not some pencil pusher that doesn’t care. At the time I was working part-time as an independent insurance agent with AFLAC. That same Monday morning, I drive over to the AFLAC office and inform my District Leader that I was now at his disposal full-time!

AFLAC gave me my first true experience with being my own boss. It was 100% commission and only got paid on the work and sales I would get. The buck stopped with me…and I LOVED IT! I loved being on my own schedule, not having to ask for time off, not punching a time clock, and could really come and go as I pleased. It definitely took a lot of discipline and dedication to make things happen. Unfortunately, I only lasted 10-months before having to get another J.O.B. and working for the man.

Looking back on it now I realize that I didn’t have the right mindset and attitude with AFLAC. The insurance industry can be very lucrative with residual income, but sometimes requires years to make it happen. I did have some success with AFLAC. I made enough money to take a trip to Italy and still enjoy a small residual monthly check and think that’s pretty cool! But didn’t make enough to support my family. We used up all of our savings and 401k to survive.

Now I’m back in corporate America and still with the company and am about to hit my four year mark with the company. Almost everything about this job reminds me of my previous corporate experience, but I needed it. After all, I had newborn daughter and wife to take care of. This job has been a huge blessing in my life and continues to be a blessing. I get great pay, excellent benefits, and somewhat secure. However, my desire to work from home, using the Internet is still in the back of my mind and keeping my eyes open for that perfect opportunity.

A year ago I thought I found it. I listened to talk radio a lot and kept hearing over and over an advertisement about making income at home. I kept telling myself I needed to respond to it and see what it’s all about, but never did. Finally after a bad day at work (which seemed to be increasing by the way) I went to the website, liked was I saw, and ordered their free training package. I liked what I saw, felt good about it, and signed up with Herbalife International.

The organization within Herbalife I joined had a proven turn-key system that if plugged into fully would make you 10-20k per month within 18-months! It was an amazing system and saw the vision and knew it worked, but only one problem…to fully plug in I had to buy “paid packs” which were basically leads who bought that same training package through the website I first visited. These “paid packs” were $130 buck a piece and needed to buy at least 15 per month. I didn’t have an extra $2,000 each month especially since I had already put in so much money to get started (over $5k).

I decided to go the retail route and just retail the Herbalife products, get at least 25 customers who buy every month, which would provide me with the financial base to get into the paid packs. Again, I wasn’t in the proper mindset to do this business with all my heart. I ended up losing a lot of money, racked up tons of debt, and was back at square one! I began to lose hope that I would never find the perfect opportunity that could make my dreams come true. I’m actually still a supervisor with Herbalife and distribute their products and still have a couple of buying customers, but am not actively promoting it.

About seven months with Herbalife, I’m at a football game with my brothers and we’re talking about a company called One24. Previously, my brother sent me an email that contained videos about this company, but I didn’t even look at it because he directed me to a website that I thought I had already looked at before, but he just changed the content. During the discussion at the football game, I get more details about One24 and am super intrigued and that night take a look at the videos.

I was shocked to find out that the founder, owner, CEO of One24 used to be the primary manufacturer for all the Herbalife products! It was Mark Seyforth who created the first milkshake diet in the United States and back-end commissioning plan that skyrocketed his company, which he accredits his success. An ex-distributor of his, Mark Hughes, founded Herbalife and continues to be very successful in the billions of dollars of sales today.

Out of that experience Mark Seyforth developed a love/hate relationship with the network marketing industry. In the video below, Mark explains this love/hate relationship and how the concept of One24 was born…

I did my due diligence with One24. It seemed too good to be true. I scoured the Internet to find anything wrong with the company. I didn’t want to be scammed again. During my search, all I found was good things and success story after success story. I joined up. This time however, I changed my mindset and my attitude. I realized that I needed to be connected with people already successful within the business to model what they have done and do it myself. I started participating in a morning mindset conference call, plugged into all the training, interacted with all the groups and people and just soaked up everything! I have never been more motivated in my life!

My first month in the business, I bring in my first person! I actually recruited someone to be my business partner! I now have a team! The next three months though I continued to struggle and wondered if it was going to work, but just kept on and getting on calls, participating in trainings, and continued to develop my mental well-being. I kept a positive attitude, had a burning desire, and had the faith to make this happen. You know what? It’s happening.

Presently, I have several more business partners and a team of over 40 people! I am right on track with the compensation plan to retire within the next 6-12 months! I will soon be able to fire my boss and work from home full-time, in my office, on my computer. I LOVE IT! It doesn’t seem like work to me because I love what I am doing. I have to force myself to stop “working” to balance my time between family, church, and the regular j.o.b. But it’s going to happen! It’s just a matter of time.

One24 is definitely NOT a “get rich quick” opportunity and takes time to build. But 12-24 months to retire is far better than spending 40 years at a job and then retiring with someone that may not even be around then. I really want to get in to paid advertising to catapult my business and found a really cool affiliate program that pays $150 for each $6 sale. I started promoting it on Monday and for the past three days I’ve made one sale a day…yes, that’s $450. If a sale a day continues, that’s an extra $4500 in a month that I could use to fund my advertising and use how I please! If you do want to make some quick money, this is the place –> http://www.killercpa.com. Seriously take a look at it and you can thank me later.

I will persist until I succeed, and remember, YOU have the CHOICE to make it a GREAT day!
