I am a student of money and subscribe to Money magazine. The cover story for their November 2012 issue says, “Retirement Guide 2013 – Retire when you want, where you want, and how you want.”
Contained within it’s pages is “everything you need to know now about saving, investing, and planning for the biggest financial prize on the horizon.” Sections include:
- The Right Moves in the Home-Stretch
- Quiz: Find Your Best Place to Retire
- What’s Next For How You Invest
- Are You Ready to Live Past 85?
- Ask the Expert: How to Make Your Money Last
- Money Heroes: Retirement Crusaders
The opening paragraph of the first section says: “Congratulations! After 30-plus years of working and socking away savings, you can finally see retirement on the horizon. But it’s not time to coast just yet.”
I don’t know about you, but I personally don’t want to be working for the next “30-plus years” at a dead-end job that I don’t like! This kind of thinking is out-dated and frankly…
…isn’t reality.
The old mentality is, go to school, get a degree, find a good job with benefits and a 401k plan, and retire and enjoy the good life!
That’s not the case anymore!
I plan to retire before I’m old and gray so I can actually enjoy life! There are places I want to travel, things I want to buy, help people in need, and basically have the freedom to do whatever I want whenever I want and how I want when I’m in the prime of my life!
Who knows? In 30 years my health condition may not be in a state where I can fulfill any of my dreams! I have chosen a path that will lead me down the NEW Road to Retirement withing the next 2 years (I’m currently 35 years old).
Retire When and Where You Want
I have already established WHEN I want to retire…within the next 2 years. However, I’m struggling with WHERE I want to retire.
The house I currently live in could sustain me for the rest of my life, but I wouldn’t mind a 5-acre ranch property where I can be totally self-sufficient…
…or live in luxury and beauty in the mountains of Costa Rica?
A home in Aspen or a beach house in Florida? The sky is the limit…maybe ALL!
Retire How You Want
HOW I want to retire is different than most people. Again, most people are going to be stuck at a dead-end job they don’t like for the next 30-plus years and then enjoying a mediocre retirement.
My kind of retirement includes a monthly residual income in the tens, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars! Your dreams and aspirations are only limited by your own mind.

In order to retire within the next 2 years the “HOW” needs to be different and NOT in the traditional sense because it’s not going to happen by working for someone else. Tony Gaskin said:
“If you don’t build your dream, someone else will hire you to build theirs.”
That’s exactly what I’m doing…building my own dream with my own home-based business. Would you believe that just by writing these words and blogging everyday provides me with just ONE stream of residual income that’s going to make it possible?
Believe what you want, but it’s working for me…
…and if it can work for me, it can work for you!
